The Impact of Clients and Service Types in Service Offshore OutsourcingBrandl, Kristin; Jaura, Manya; Ørberg Jensen, Peter D. (Frederiksberg, 2015)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: In this paper we study whether and how the interaction between clients and the service providers contributes to the development of capabilities in service provider firms. In situations where such a contribution occurs, we analyze how different types of activities in the production process of the services, such as sequential or reciprocal task activities, influence the development of different types of capabilities. We study five cases of offshore-outsourced knowledge-intensive business services that are distinguished according to their reciprocal or sequential task activities in their production process. We find that clients influence the development of human capital capabilities and management capabilities in reciprocally produced services. While in sequential produced services clients influence the development of organizational capital capabilities and management capital capabilities. An ANT Study of the Roles of the Price in Decisions to Invest in Child ProtectionSchrøder, Ida (Frederiksberg, 2016)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: In these terms a social case worker in a Danish local authority explains, why she was reluctant to accept the offer from a supplier of social services. She ended up choosing another supplier, which was judged to better meet the needs of the boy, at a price, which was better aligned with her expectations. The economizing (Miller & Power, 2013) of social work is indeed happening. The overall purpose of this PhD is to investigate how this results in the development of new management accounting practices (Chapman, Cooper, & Miller, 2009). My hope is first of all, that such knowledge will give detailed insights into how it is possible for social work professionals to be both accountable to the needs of the child and the budget of their department. Secondly, I hope this knowledge will make visual some of the management accounting practises that enables the children to get the help, they need and not only those management accounting practises that happen to the detriment of the children and clients (Brodkin, 2011; Lipsky, 2010; Munro, 2004). Doing the PhD. thesis within the field of management accounting research hopefully enables me to do, what Power and Miller (2013, p. 592) asks of us: “...scholars of organizations and management need to view accounting practices as central to their discipline rather than a merely technical and peripheral activity”. The remaining part of the Project Proposal is structured as follows: First a very brief introduction to the field of public sector social work. The rest falls in two main sections: The first section is a literature review, which aims to narrow down the scope of the study. Secondly the outline of the study is presented. Evidence of Systematic Differences in User PopulationsWulf, Julie; Hardt, Daniel (Atlanta, GA, 2014)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: Do user populations differ systematically in the way they express and rate sentiment? We use large collections of Danish and U.S. reviews to investigate this question, and we find evidence of important systematic differences: first, positive ratings are far more common in the U.S. data than in the Danish data. Second, Danish reviewers tend to under-rate their own positive reviews compared to U.S. reviewers. This has potentially far-reaching implications for the interpretation of user ratings, the use of which has exploded in recent years. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/8959 Filer i denne post: 1

Mindset-driven strategic change and executional agility in Solar A/SNielsen, Rikke Kristine (Frederiksberg, 2011)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: This paper explores the practical and theoretical avenues for working with mindset as a strategic lever and method of securing business strategy executional agility. Taking the mindset development aspirations of Solar A/S as point of departure, the building up of a collective mindset conducive to strategy execution is explored as a method of securing implementation of business strategy. Reflecting the strategic priorities and internationalization process of the case study organization, the concept of global mindset is activated as an avenue of exploration (Chatterjee, 2005; Levy et al., 2007; Dekker et al; 2005; Bowen & Inkpen, 2009; Gupta & Govindarajan, 2002). A global mindset is the cognitive ability (of managers) to be open towards and navigating, integrating and mediating between multiple cultural and strategic realities on both global and local levels mirroring the Solar notion of group mindset supporting business strategy. It is argued that a knowledge gap exist with regards to creation and change of mindset in connection with strategy execution. Concepts of organizational learning are put forward as a possible point of entrance to mindset change. The paper is informed by the exploratory data from the initial phase of an ongoing industrial Ph.D.- project in Solar A/S with the working title “A mindset for strategy execution -mindset-driven leadership development and strategic performance.” URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/8586 Filer i denne post: 1

Reflections on Digital ‘Focal Things and Practices’ in the WildernessBødker, Mads (Frederiksberg, 2017)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: This position paper reflects on Borgmann’s notion of ‘focal things’ and its applicability in the discourse about interaction with technologies in nature. Using the example of a combined cooking burner and thermoelectric 5W smartphone charger (a BioLite cook stove), this position paper gives an example of how a mundance “device” turns focal once it is connected to a contextual infrastructure (the ‘wild’), and reflects on the applicability of the notion of focality. The guiding question is how the notion of ‘focal things and practices’ drawn from Borgmann might help us think about the (strained) relationship between digital technologies and the wilderness. Resume: To understand the rising prevalence of obesity in affluent societies, it is necessary to take into account the growing obesity infrastructure, which over past decades has developed into an obesogenic environment. This infrastructure is a direct reflection of the mainstream economic growth paradigm that the literature on consumer culture characterizes as chronic overconsumption. This study examines the effects of one of the constituent factors of consumer societies and a key contributory factor to childhood obesity: commercial food communication targeted to children and its impact on their food knowledge and food preferences. Because evaluations of traditional information- and education-based interventions suggest that they may not sustainably change food patterns, we combine insights from behavioral economics and traditional consumer behavior theory to formulate seven hypotheses, which we then test using a subsample from the IDEFICS study. The results reveal not only that advertising has divergent effects on children’s food knowledge and preferences but that food knowledge is unrelated to food preferences, a finding that has important implications for future research and public policy. Resume: Co-‐creation as a concept has won terrain over the past 10 years (Bhalla, 2010; Ramaswamy and Goulliart, 2010; Ramaswamy, 2011). In practice as well as in literature, co-‐creation is climbing the agenda in relation to contemporary opportunities and challenges within management, organization design, and change initiatives. Thus, there has been a vast growth in application and conceptual development of the concept of co-‐creation. However, there is very little research-‐based literature on how the field of co-‐creation has developed, and of how the concept is being established, and on the future frontiers of the concept of co-‐creation. This paper aims to build an overview of the literature on co-‐creation to explore what the existing literature relate to and indeed to pinpoint if any patterns or streams can be identified. The paper illustrates how the use of the concept of co-‐creation suggests a necessity for focusing further on specific co-‐creation related issues and challenges of significance to business and society. Thus, the paper highlights new co-‐creation related issues, challenges, and frontiers in practice and research rather than giving answers or solutions to existing problems. Lehrer, Christiane; Constantiou, Ioanna; Hess, Thomas (, 2011)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: The recent profusion of smartphones in the mobile industry offers new opportunities for mobile services vendors. One of the most influenced service categories is location-based services (LBS). Based on insights from behavioural decision-making, a theoretical framework is developed to analyse individuals‟ decisions to use LBS. We focus on the cognitive processes involved in individual decisionmaking. Our research is based on two studies. First, we investigated the use of LBS through semistructured interviews of smartphone users. Second, we explored daily LBS use through a study based on diaries. The findings highlight the distinct value dimension in specific contexts of use and the positive experiences of the service as the main drivers of LBS use. Thus, the user decision to use LBS can be described by either a comparative mode based on the value of LBS in relation to other available options, or by an intuitive mode where past experiences trigger the use of heuristics. These modes in turn underscore the positive influences on the continuance of LBS use. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/8522 Filer i denne post: 1

Towards a Group Formation MethodologyRazmerita, Liana; Brun, Armelle (Nordwijkerhout, 2011)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: Group work has been adopted as an important tool to support collaborative work in order to enhance learning processes. There is a wealth of literature related to group performance and the impact of group composition on group and individual performance. However, very few studies address the issue on how to automatically form groups. This article proposes a methodology that could be used by professors to form groups automatically taking into account different criteria as well as the students’ profile. This methodology is based on a pilot study that analyzes group composition of self-formed student groups. The pilot study findings suggest that students tend to form homogeneous group in terms of level of the knowledge. Furthermore, students report that working on common topics of interests was a decisive factor in forming the groups. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/8335 Filer i denne post: 1

Resume: The paper represents an exploratory study aimed at developing a theoretical framework that supports the elaboration of efficient collaborative purchasing (CP) strategies in the healthcare system. We identify prerequisites for developing an efficient CP approach in the healthcare system. A case study of Danish National Healthcare system is presented. The case indicates that trust and stakeholders’ commitment are key elements for successful CP initiatives. Moreover, simplifying procedures for collaborative sourcing and service management is crucial in sourcing of complex medical equipment. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/8542 Filer i denne post: 1

Resume: This paper examines perfume advertising within the overall context of theoretical approaches to the study of smell. Pointing out that smell is marked by a paucity of language, it proceeds to examine how smell is represented in perfume advertisements. Based on an analysis of more than 250 ads worldwide, the paper asks if there are any consistent relations between language, colours and smell materials, as well as between models’ poses, seasons, and classes of perfume (floral, oriental, woody, and so on). It proceeds to survey a number of writings linking colour with smell, and suggests that olfactory marketing should, perhaps, be more consistent in its linking of these two domains in advertising and packaging. The Case of North Sea Oil Service CompaniesSløk-Madsen, Stefan K. (Frederiksberg, 2017)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: This paper develops and tests a theory of entrepreneurial value capturing in maritime markets. The framework is argued to be applicable in all maritime fields and other fields with similar attributes but is specifically tested on Oil Service companies operating in the North Sea region. This specific empirical application, however, mirrors general maritime concerns of derived demand and high capital intensity and knowledge specificity. The paper introduces the construct of Commercial Capabilities and models the relevance of such a subset of firm capabilities from an entrepreneurial dynamic market process view; building on Kirznerian alertness, Hayekian capital heterogeneity, and Knightian uncertainty. The theory helps explain value capturing from a firm perspective but also subsequent new firm creation or value loss. The model is tested and relevant managerial implications, as well as reflections on further research, presented. The paper is written so as to be relevant for maritime economists, in moving an emergent maritime entrepreneurship agenda forward, but also mainstream entrepreneurship research, and applied Austrian economics, in attempting to test theory in an industry setting only sparingly engaged by non-maritime researchers. Defining the Concept and a Research AgendaKirkegaard-Sløk Madsen, Stefan K.; Ritter, Thomas; Sornn-Friese, Henrik (Frederiksberg, 2017)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: For any firm, the ultimate purpose of new product development is the commercialization of the new offerings. Despite its regular use in the product innovation and general management science literature, commercialization is only loosely defined and applied. This lack of conceptual clarity about the processes at the interface between product development and customer application is noteworthy as it hinders the theoretical development of the field. In this paper, we explore how research has advanced our understanding of commercialization in product innovation over a 30 year period by mapping different definitions and interpretations of commercialization. We offer a process-oriented definition of commercialization that is theoretically founded in the capability-based view of the firm. We also outline an agenda for future theoretical development and empirical research on commercialization aimed at advancing our understanding of the concept. Resume: Spoken language applications are becoming increasingly operational and are used in many computer applications today. Translation dictation is a mode of translation by which a translator reads a source text and speaks out its translation, instead of typing it. Translation dictation is thus a method of translation situated in between interpretation, where the interpreter hears a text and speaks out the translation (e.g., during conference interpreting) and conventional translation by which a written source text is translated mainly using the keyboard. It is close to sight translation. Translation Dictation was a technique used in some translation bureaus in the 1960s and 1970s (Gingold, 1978) but it has been used less frequently since the mid-80s, as professional translators started using micro-computers (Zapata and Kirkedal, 2015). Already, the ALPAC report (Pierce et al., 1966) mentioned that “productivity of human translators might be as much as four times higher when dictating” as compared to writing, and with today´s increasing quality of voice recognition this mode of translation is experiencing a come-back. The usage of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems provides an efficient means to produce texts, and our experiments suggest that for some translators and types of text translations it might become even more efficient than post-editing of machine translation. In this paper we describe the ENJA15 translation study and corpus. The ENJA15 corpus is a collection of translation process data that was collected in a collaborative effort by CRITT and NII. The ENJA15 data is part of a bigger data set which will enable us to compare human translation production processes across different languages, different translation modes, including from-scratch translation, machine translation post-editing and translation dictation. Kreuzer, Maria; von Wallpach, Sylvia (Frederiksberg, 2012)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: This article contributes to the study of embodied brand knowledge retrieval. Embodied brand knowledge results from multi-sensory consumer brand experiences. Consumers store embodied brand knowledge on a non-conscious, modality-specific level and use metaphors for its expression. Retrieving embodied brand knowledge requires methods that (a) stimulate senses involved in brand experiences and (b) encourage metaphorical expression. This study empirically compares the value of a uni-sensory, visual method (Autodriving) versus a multi-sensory method (Multi-sensory sculpting) for embodied brand knowledge retrieval. The results support the theoretical assumption that Multisensory sculpting elicits more and more diverse embodied brand knowledge elements than Autodriving. Nawaz, Ather (Frederiksberg, 2012)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: This study investigates how the choice of analysis method for card sorting studies affects the suggested information structure for websites. In the card sorting technique, a variety of methods are used to analyse the resulting data. The analysis of card sorting data helps user experience (UX) designers to discover the patterns in how users make classifications and thus to develop an optimal, user-centred website structure. During analysis, the recurrence of patterns of classification between users influences the resulting website structure. However, the algorithm used in the analysis influences the recurrent patterns found and thus has consequences for the resulting website design. This paper draws an attention to the choice of card sorting analysis and techniques and shows how it impacts the results. The research focuses on how the same data for card sorting can lead to different website structures by generating different set of classifications. It further explains how the agreement level between the users can change for similar data due to the choice of analysis. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/8587 Filer i denne post: 1

Resume: Usability moderators found that the concurrent think-aloud (CTA) method has some cultural limitation that impacts usability testing with Malaysian users. This gives rise to proposing a new method called textual feedback. The research question is to determine whether there are any differences in terms of usability defects found by employing the new method. Due to the high power distance, it is hypothesized that the CTA method may not be sufficient and hence a textual feedback method is recommended instead. Hence, the objective of this study is to determine if there are any differences in usability defects from the concurrent think-aloud (CTA) method (Condition 2) and textual feedback method (Condition 1) within the same group of Malaysian users. A pair-wise t-test was used, whereby users were subjected to performing usability task using both methods. Results reveal that we can reject the null hypothesis of "no difference" in feedback and therefore conclude that textual feedback reported significantly more usability defects than CTA, as the difference is positive t(208) = 4.791, p=0.01. The Market Liberalized HaulierBorgström, Benedikte; Gammelgaard, Britta; Bruun, Poul (Frederiksberg, 2016)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: Road transport is an important sector, connecting time and space of production and consumption. Its market conditions has changed. The EU single market implementation has increased price pressure due to supply of low cost road freight transport from counties with lower cost structures. Changes in the market also encourage strategic development of some road hauliers into providers of unique services. Such road haulier strategic development contributes to efficiency and effectiveness in basically all business sectors of EU. Little research is available of such strategic and operational management. In this paper we will explore that knowledge gap and analyze what value proposition(s) and capabilities can transform potential cost disadvantages of acting in a market that includes both high- and low-cost-country actors? And in conceptual terminology, how are capabilities deployed and developed to construct a competitive value proposition? We will illustrate the strategy-as-practice with two projects, and discuss implications in terms of capabilities needed to create an effective value proposition and hence competitiveness. The theoretical contribution is in theorizing haulier strategic development in which we take into account logistics service supplier strategic management. We also contribute with better understanding of value creation in order to escape commoditization and differentiate services through relationships (customers and/or other hauliers). Practical implications concern hauliers’ strategy creation and to some extent road transport buyers in terms of more informed market knowledge. Resume: Borrowing from complementary theories has become an important part of theorizing SCM. We build upon principal-agent theory (PAT), transaction cost analysis (TCA), network theory (NT), and resource-based view (RBV) to provide insights on how to structure a supply chain and manage it. Through extensive literature review, we identified 76 articles of which a content analysis was performed on their appropriateness for PAT, TCA, NT and RBV. Our findings suggest that the integrative and multi-layered nature of SCM sets the conditions for “theorizing SCM” that can take place through various forms: theory application, new theoretical combinations and sensitivity to managerial practice.
