Borgström, Benedikte (Frederiksberg, 2016)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: With care of writing as a method of inquiry, this paper engages in academic writing such as responsible knowledge development drawing on emotion, thought and reason. The aim of the paper is to better understand emancipatory knowledge development. Bodily experiences and responses shape academic writing and there are possibilities for responsible academic writing in that iterative process. I propose that academic writing can be seen as possibilities of passionate as well as passive writing. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/9342 Filer i denne post: 1

Assessing network structures within container shipping industryProckl, Günter; Kotzab, Herbert; Kinra, Aseem (frederiksberg, 2013)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: Purpose - Container shipping, due to its boundary crossing nature, is generally seen as an international business. A first look into the physical networks of the industry has shown that container-shipping companies operate however rather differently, with different motives for internationalization, and infact show different patterns to their international development. However, there are other important transactional and market-oriented considerations, and overall dynamics that need to be examined before concluding on the internationalization levels of container shipping companies, and the industry. The purpose of this paper is to further investigate the patterns of internationalisation by the examination of the more demand-oriented considerations. Design/methodology/approach - In order to answer the research question, the paper focusses on the examination of the front-end activities and structures like sales office networks and the overall extent of market presence. For this the fundamental sales networks of the companies were considered as a key indicator, and the port networks of the 20 largest container-shipping companies in the world (by TEU capacity) were analyzed. Findings - The resulting data set allows an examination on each company’s overall network at various geographic levels, and a direct comparison of the networks of the companies. It shows that not all shipping companies are highly international. It also shows that market share and total capacity are not necessarily a good indicator for the worldwide presence of a company. Research limitations/implications (if applicable) - The paper adds yet another piece to the interesting puzzle on internationalization patterns of container shipping companies. However, for a complete picture on the internationalization process further work will be required that is based e.g. on the development pattern of single companies and that may also take more the dynamic aspects and comparisons into account. Practical implications - Preceeding work provides insights that are directed towards the port networks and thus toward the more back office oriented resource architecture and the more geographical aspect of physical coverage. By reorganising the focus on the sales network of the single container shipping companies, this paper presents findings that are also applicable to the front end, towards the customer, The comparison of both views is promising interesting insights such as ownership structures and entry modes along with the specific location commitment as a basis for strategic considerations. Originality/value – In the academic literature there is not much to find on the internationalization process and the dominating internationalisation patterns related to container shipping. The paper makes an important contribution in this regard by considering the different aspects of the international shipping networks and by bringing these closer to extant frameworks on internationalization. Exploring the Process of Bringing the Market Inside the FirmFriis, Ivar; Hansen, Allan; Vámosi, Tamás (Frederiksberg, 2015)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: Research on relative performance measures, transfer pricing, beyond budgeting initiatives, target costing, piece rates systems and value based management has for decades underlined the importance of external benchmarking in performance management. Research conceptualises external benchmarking as a market mechanism that can be brought inside the firm to provide incentives for continuous improvement and the development of competitive advances. However, whereas extant research primarily has focused on the importance and effects of using external benchmarks, less attention has been directed towards the conditions upon which the market mechanism is performing within organizations. This paper aims to contribute to research by providing more insight to the conditions for the use of external benchmarking as an element in performance management in organizations. Our study explores a particular type of external benchmarks - external suppliers’ bids on sub-components (which can be produced either in-house or by the external suppliers) in a Danish manufacturing firm – and we study the conditions that determine the success of the mechanism in the manufacturing firm which include issues related to the calculation of the ‘inside’ costs of the sub-component, technical specifications of the product, opportunistic behavior from the suppliers and cognitive limitation. These are all aspects that easily can dismantle the market mechanism and make it counter-productive in the organization. Thus, by directing more attention towards the conditions for the use of the external benchmarks we provide more insights to some of the issues and challenges that are related to using this mechanism for performance management and advance competitiveness in organizations. Resume: Sustainable work behavior is an important issue for operations managers – it has implications for most outcomes of OM. This research explores the antecedents of sustainable work behavior. It revisits and extends the sociotechnical model developed by Brown et al. (2000) on predicting safe behavior. Employee characteristics and general attitudes towards safety and work condition are included in the extended model. A survey was handed out to 654 employees in Chinese factories. This research contributes by demonstrating how employee- characteristics and general attitudes towards safety and work condition influence their sustainable work behavior. A new definition of sustainable work behavior is proposed. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/8775 Filer i denne post: 1

Soffers, Ruter; Meijboom, Bert; Hsuan, Juliana (Frederiksberg, 2016)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: Modularity can help address urgent societal needs of cost reductions and improved patient centeredness in healthcare, but has only rarely been implemented in that sector. We propound that this is at least partially due to the lack of guidance on reorganizations of existing healthcare offerings in a modular way. We identify three principles to do so: 1) the service architecture should be decomposable; 2) a proper service specification process should be introduced; and 3) the presence of interfaces should be ensured. Following these principles should help policy makers as well as managers to implement modularity in existing healthcare offerings. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/9418 Filer i denne post: 1

Or how the natural environment may qualify as a stakeholder in the firm’s business environmentJustesen, Lise; Mouritsen, Jan; Tryggestad, Kjell (Frederiksberg, 2011)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: In its general form, stakeholder theory posits an extension of the ecology. It claims that there are other stakes and interests than those posited by shareholder value theory (Freeman et al. 2004; Jensen and Sandström 2011), and some stakeholder theory proponents argue that the natural environment is also to be considered as a stakeholder (Driscoll and Starik 2004; Norton 2007). It is a positive claim – there are more stakes and interests – and a moral one – we should look towards more interests in order to complete the analysis. With this framing, stakeholder theory seeks to identify stakes and interests which may be difficult but in principle achievable; it also seeks to make analysis of organized activity such as (global) business into a concern with the relative power of stakes and interests. These concerns are highly relevant but they face the barrier that if stakes and interests are positively there, the analysis becomes static and will pay less attention to both the formation and to power-effects of stakes and interest. Representation of Services in Contractual AgreementsHarjo, Ieva; Frandsen, Thomas; Hsuan, Juliana (Frederiksberg, 2016)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: This paper explores how seemingly complex servitized solutions can become tradable in a customer–supplier relationship by objectification and abbreviation. The key argument is that the complexity of product-service solutions can be reduced by abbreviation of the reality in written form of contracts and agreements that allow for customization while making the offer more comprehensible for customers and more manageable for suppliers. Preliminary results from an exploratory case study are presented. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/9419 Filer i denne post: 1

Algren, Casper; Kotzab, Herbert (Frederiksberg, 2011)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: Purpose: We have examined which dimensions are used by the largest Danish manufacturing companies to measure SCPM at operational, tactical and strategic level, how can these dimensions be classified, and how do these empirical results have implications for practice and selected SCPM-theories. Design/methodology/approach: A deductive structure based on a theoretical framework was used to design an empirical investigation of 54 Danish manufacturing companies, which all have revenue of more than DKK 500 million. Furthermore, qualitative investigation was done by analyzing four casecompanies in order to get a more in-depth picture of how SCPM is used in practice. Findings: The four most used SCPM metrics have downstream focus. Companies that use SCPM have a more deliberated split between metrics with focus on operational, tactical and strategic level. While the quantitative data indicates that non-financial measurements are most frequently used, the qualitative data implies that the companies use financial measures as basis for performance measurement and that results from non-financial measures have second priority. Research limitations/implications (if applicable): The model is limited to large Danish industrial companies and we propose to widen the model to upstream and downstream supply chain partners. Practical implications (if applicable): The paper shows the most important and most frequently used supply chain relevant key performance indicators as well as a process model of how to implement supply chain performance measurement in a company. Original/value: This paper closes the gap between theory and practice within the area of performance measurement and management within the context of supply chain management. The proposed SCPM model has been theoretically developed and empirically validated. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/8331 Filer i denne post: 1

A Systematic Literature Review of Road Freight TransportBenedikte, Borgström; Gammelgaard, Britta; Wieland, Andreas (Frederiksberg, 2017)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: Purpose: This article provides a comprehensive review of the strategic management of transport and logistics services and to identify promising avenues for future research in the field. Design/methodology/approach: A systematic literature review is conducted based on articles published between 2011 and 2016 in international peer‐reviewed journals. 55 selected articles deal with strategic elements concerning hauliers, such as service offerings, costs and revenues. Findings: Themes of hauliers’ strategizing that are discussed in the literature, namely carrier selection revisited, professionalism, innovation, horizontal collaboration, planned and emergent strategies, and value propositions. Research limitations/implications: The research expands on the previous literature on logistics and transport and adds knowledge about hauliers as part of the transport and supply chain. Social implications: In highly ranked transport journals, only two per cent of the published articles concern haulier strategizing, thus, knowledge development concerning the socio-economic and managerial problems of practitioners and policy makers is delimited. Original/value: The study contributes to a strategic perspective by identifying transdisciplinary avenues of research that are likely to likely to encourage hauliers to be innovative. Hald, Kim Sundtoft; Olsen, Morten Albin (Frederiksberg, 2010)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: Using a combined conceptual and single case-based research methodology, we explore the process connecting a buyers attempt to transfer its sustainability requirements with its suppliers’ willingness to participate. We conclude that buyer promoted sustainability practices in the supply chain can be understood as multiple decision problems. The case illustrate how accounting devices play major roles in resolving these decision problems, and how decision criteria apparently unconnected to the sustainability issue affect the outcome of the sustainability transferral process in the supply chain. The Narrative Mediation Between Organizational and Individual ParadoxesMajgaard, Klaus (Frederiksberg, 2015)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: The purpose of this paper is to enhance the conceptual understanding of the mediatory relationship between paradoxes on an organizational and an individual level. It presents a concept of agency that comprises and mediates between a structural and individual pole. The constitution of this agency is achieved through narrative activity that oscillates between the poles and transforms paradoxes through the configuration of plots and metaphors. Empirical cases are introduced in order to illustrate the implications of this understanding. URI: http://hdl.handle.net/10398/9158 Filer i denne post: 1

Hald, Kim Sundtoft; Kinra, Aseem; Das, Ajay (Frederiksberg, 2016)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: This study contributes to literature on value creation in buyer-supplier relationships as well as literature on IT service provision. It makes a first attempt at building a comprehensive model of the factors that enable and inhibit value creation within buyersupplier relationships. A distinction is made between value drivers with a direct influence on value creation, operational- and strategic performance, and moderating contextual factors that may enable or inhibit value creation from taking place. Initial application of the model to an IT service provision context is provided. Further case based and survey based applications are needed to develop and validate the suggested model. An analytic fixation on constitutive dynamicsPlotnikof, Mie (Frederiksberg, 2012)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: In this paper an analytic scope is elaborated in order to unpack the complexities of constitutive dynamics co-producing managerial subjects in discursive practices of public management work (my empirical field). Such framing is proposed in order to grasp the dynamic complexity of multi-modal, power-infused processes of subject formations, that is, the significant discursive practices through which different enacting forces constitute selves, actions, procedures and/or materials as managerial matters with specific normative effects. In this view managerial subjectivity becomes a question of analysing power-infused processes of active and passive performing subject formations that manage meanings of managerial matter, selves, affect conditions of actions and ways of organizing. Public management work is an interesting field to such; with the rapid changes seen in many OECD-countries, embedded managerial subjects and relating phenomena become in fluxes of binary tensions between shifting modernization discourses (e.g. in terms of ‘New Public Management’ or ‘New Public Governance’). With such the significance of formal managers are often stressed to changing ways of organizing (Bislev et al. 2002, Pedersen & Hartley 2008). But how do certain ‘selves’, ‘doings’, ‘things’ come to matter managerially in everyday management work, managing meanings and conditions of selves, others and actions? By analysing the socially embedded co-productions of managerial work, we can nuance research accounts on the performance of manageability in organizing processes. But grasping such complexity calls for discourse analytics sensitive to social-psychological aspects of constitutive dynamics, a need this paper contributes to. Borgström, Benedikte (Frederiksberg, 2017)[Flere oplysninger][Færre oplysninger]
Resume: It starts in a simple question and purpose of what is fair in the transport chain concept, and develops to an abductive reasoning based on critical business ethics research and polyphonic narratives for an understanding of the mess that involves people, ethics in supply chains, interest organizations and EU institutions. Analytical understanding arrives from the Spinozian ethical principles in societies, justice and mercy. Justice as a social pact in order to escape the natural injustice and inequality outside the social system. Mercy as recognizing individuals in collective co-existence. Fairness in fair transport is suggested to be of a dynamic nature and derived from knowledgeable reasoning and found in lived ethico-political relationships.
